Toyota Racing Development’s first Australian creation, the TRD Aurion, has arrived at Frankston Toyota! This Australian designed masterpiece enhances performance in every way, yet maintains integrity in every aspect. TRD Aurion is an expression of our motorsport heritage - a car that delivers more power than any other Toyota ever sold in Australia.
TRD Aurion’s supercharged 3.5L V6 engine delivers 241kW of power and 400Nm of torque while maintaining an average fuel consumption of 10.9L/100km. Dual VVT-i technology varies the timing to both the intake and exhaust valves throughout the rev range, so, the engine optimises fuel consumption and maximise power output in all driving conditions. TRD Aurion uses an Eaton TVS (Twin Vortices Series) Supercharger, a first for a production car and a six-speed automatic transmission. The result is a 6.1 second sprint from 0-100 kph and a top speed of 240 kph. TRD editions of select Toyota vehicle shave been available in several
markets for years, but this is the fi rst vehicle worldwide to be sold as a TRD, now established as a separate brand under Toyota.

Did you know that Toyota has a model to suit virtually every motoring need?
Whether you are 18 or 80, a city or a country driver, a lawyer or a tradie,
there’s a Toyota to suit you.
Over the next months we’ll be giving you a rundown on the whole Toyota range
– obviously there are so many we can’t do it all in a single issue of Inside
Frankston Toyota. This month we’re continuing our classes with the All-New Kluger. |
Just arrived at Frankston Toyota and causing considerable excitement is all-new Toyota Kluger - and it’s worth getting excited about! Here’s an off-roader that drives and handles like a quality sedan with the space and convenience of a station wagon, and the ground clearance and choice of AWD to go off-road with ease. New Kluger is powered by
an all-alloy 3.5-litre V6 that’s by far the most advanced and powerful naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine in its class, teamed with a 5 speed automatic transaxle, ‘Super ECT’ (Super intelligent Electronically Controlled Transmission) sequential shift function and lock-up torque converter. Kluger is not only larger and more powerful than its predecessor – it’s more fuel-effi cient, using just 11.0 litres/100km for all models except the AWD Grande at 11.6 litres/100km. Emissions are reduced too, thanks to a stainless-steel exhaust manifold with a built-in three-way catalyst. This design accelerates the warm up of the catalyst immediately after startup, reducing exhaust emissions. New Kluger is available in three model grades, for the first
time in both 2WD and AWD variants - KX-R, KX-S and Grande
- with seating for up to seven people. Electronic Vehicle Stability
Control, Traction Control and Active Braking with Intelligence - the combination of Anti-skid Brakes, Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution are all standard with a segment-leading total of seven airbags. A reversing camera is fitted as standard across the range.

If you own a satellite navigation system, be aware that they
may be the latest target for both opportunist thieves and also more organized ones – and it’s these that can hurt you most. Police in the UK have identified a growing trend of car theft from public carparks followed by burglary of the car owner’s home – the thieves use the navigation system to backtrack to the home, where they gain access knowing the property is empty. Local criminals will inevitably follow suit, so here are a few simple precautions.
• If you have a portable system,
| |
keep it safe by taking it, together with the support cradle and suction pads, with you when you leave the car. Don’t leave it in the glove box – thieves will usually check there first.
• Wipe off any suction pad marks |
left on the windscreen or dashboard - thieves look for these.
• Mark your system permanently with your vehicle registration number (you can buy a small electric engraving tool for a few dollars).
• Make a note of the make, model and serial number of the system and keep it somewhere secure.
• Lock all the doors and windows and don’t leave anything on view in the vehicle.
• Never leave the keys in the ignition when you leave the vehicle, even if you’re just paying for fuel.

They are two totally different things,
but many people get them confused! Wheel alignment involves adjusting the angles of the wheels so that they are perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other.
The aim is
maximum tyre life and a vehicle that tracks straight and true when driving
along a straight and level road. Wheel balancing allows tyres and wheels to spin without causing any vibrations. This is done by checking for heavy spots on the wheel-tyre combination and compensating for it by placing a measured lead weight on the opposite site of the wheel. If you’re experiencing uneven or rapid tyre wear, pulling or drifting away from a straight line, or the spokes of
the steering wheel are off to one side while driving on a straight and level road, you almost certainly need a wheel alignment. If the steering wheel seat or floor vibrates at certain speeds speeds or there’s a ‘scalloped’ or ‘cupped’ wear pattern on the tyres, it’s time to get your wheels balanced. And if you can’t tell either way, let the experts at Frankston Toyota advise you. Just call our Service Department on (03) 9783 8400.

Frankston Dolphins and Frankston YCW Under-11 footy teams clashed on the evening of August 24th in the inaugural Frankston Toyota Cup - and Frankston Toyota had a winning night all round. Not only do we sponsor the Cup – we sponsor both teams! Neither side has enjoyed a
particularly brilliant season, but this match had all the makings of an epic. YCW led the way with just two |
points on the scoreboard at quarter time, but the Dolphins came out fi ghting, scoring four unanswered goals in each of the 2nd and 3rd quarters to run out the winners at 6.4.52 to 0.3.3. Win or lose, it was a |
great night for both teams and a
huge experience for the boys to play under lights.
